The 14th Annual Diabetes Awareness Walk held on Sunday, the 20th Nov 2011 at Boat Basin, Clifton Karachi, in connection with the World Diabetes Day.

The purpose of this annual event of BIDE is to create and enhance public Awareness on diabetes and on the primary prevention of diabetes & its complications.

People started gathering at the venue of the walk from 8 am. The gathering had grown to a huge congregation of nearly 1000 people by 9 am when the walk started .

The walk was inaugurated by Prof F.U Baqai - The Chancellor of Baqai Medical Universit, Prof Lieutenant General (Ret.) Dr Syed Azhar Ahmed - Vice-Chancellor of Baqai Medical University,Prof Abdul Samad Shera - Honorary Preident International Diabetes Federation and Secretary General Pakistan Diabetes Association, Prof Dr. Rubina Hakeem - Principal and Professors Nutrition and Dietetics RLAK College of Home Economics Karachi and Honorary Lead Dietetics Baqai Institute of Diabetes Baqai University Karachi.

The BIDE team was lead by various consultants of the institute namely Prof.Yakoob Ahmedani, Dr. Zahid Miyan and Dr. Asher Fawwad, doctors, paramedics and other staff working at BIDE participated in the walk along with their families.

People from all walks of life actively participated in the walk and found it to be a very useful and productive event regarding creating health awareness in masses.
