The 9th Annual Diabetes Awareness Walk held on Sunday 19th Nov 2006 at Boat Basin, Clifton Karachi.

The purpose of this walk is to raise awareness about diabetes, and stimulate and support the effective measures for the management and prevention of this metabolic disorder in Pakistani communities.

Participants started coming from 08:00 am onwards and most people had gathered by the time the walk started at 09:00 am. Prominent guests included Dr. Abdus Samad Shera – Honorary president IDF Pakistan. Dr. Zaman Shaikh – Dow University of Health Science. Dr. F.U. Baqai – Chancellor Baqai Medical University.

Different consultants like Dr.Yakoob Ahmedani, Dr. Amir Riaz, Dr. Muhammad Yaqoob and their families along with other doctors and staff of BIDE actively participated in the walk and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The tentative date and venue for the 10th Annual Diabetes Awareness Walk is Sunday 18 Nov. 2007 at Boat Basin, Clifton Karachi and 2007 theme is “Diabetes in Children and Adolescents”.
