About Diploma
Course overview
The Postgraduate Diploma in Diabetology established to equip doctors with an interest in diabetes with sound knowledge of the subject. This is achieved by providing an opportunity to develop clinical skills, and to learn new modalities of treatment. The referral guideline for family physicians is another salient feature of the course. Early recognition of diabetic complications, Emergency management at clinics, referral to specialized units and follow-up management are the most significant areas taken-care of. Students are encouraged to develop educational materials and acquire the habit of documentation of their findings, preparing case study and ability to conduct research.
The Objective of Diploma
The objective is to provide general practitioners/ amily physicians a holistic approach for the management of diabetes and its complications. Diploma is designed mainly for outpatient management but with some exposure to inpatient, diabetic emergencies and medical problems associated with diabetes.
Course outline with timelines:
Diploma in Diabetology is a one year Postgraduate Course in the field of diabetes. The course consists of two semesters, as follows:
i. Semester I
Five months [From January to May], exam preparation in June and exam in July.
ii. Semester II (Final)
Five months [From July to November], exam preparation in November and exam in December.
Each semester is again divided into two theory Courses & two Practical Sessions each carrying three credit hours.
