Introduction
| This
full time course will be held for one year from January
each year. The diploma course consists of two semesters.
Each semester will be of five months duration comprising
of two Theory Sessions, each Session of three credit
hours & two practical training sessions, each one
again of three credit hours. So total credit hours
in each semester will be twelve. Each semester will
be followed by one month break for preparation & examination.
Each exam would comprise of theory examination, viva
& OSCE assessment. The daily schedule will be from
8:00 am to 2:00 pm five days a week. There will be
5 lectures & 5 workshops per week. There would be
total around 100 lectures and 100 workshops per semester.

The diploma course aims to give
an extensive insight of updated concepts regarding
etio-pathology and management of Diabetes. |

then 150 students have been granted Diploma in Dialectology
& working in different parts of the country
and abroad, a place like as far as Gujranwala, Multan,
Dera Ghazi Khan, Rani pur, Sukkur, Kankot, Hyderabad,
Thatta, different parts of Karachi working in-vasion
leading institution like Memon diabetic. Abroad
they are working in Saudia, Muscat, Malaysia etc.

The area covered include primary health
care, prevention & control of Diabetes, health economics,
planning & management regarding Diabetes, Epidemiology,
Statistics, Practical training in the use of data entry
and internet search.
The objective is to provide physicians
with a generalist approach to diabetes & its complications,
with special emphasis on managing common diabetic emergencies
and various medical problems associated with diabetes.
This course is open to all qualified medical practitioners

Diploma in Diabetology

Admission Policy |

Eligibility
Qualifications for admission
and course of study:
1. The
course is open to all medical practitioners (MBBS).
2. Each
candidate must have one-year experience in Hospital
Medicine and two years
working in the profession.
3. Each
candidate must participate in research work conducted
in the Institute of
Diabetology.
4. There
will be an entry test for all candidates; candidates
passing the test will be
eligible for admission in diploma in diabetes.

Examination & Results |
| |
Examination
Examination would be held at the end of
each semester. Final examination will be
held once a year after successful completion
of the training program. Every student entering
for the examination will have to submit
a completed enrollment form at least 6 weeks
before the due date of the examination.
The entry form must be certified by the
course supervisor in accordance with the
general regulations for approved courses
of study. The enrollment for the examination
may be declined if the study and practical
work of the course has not been completed
to the satisfaction of the Course Supervisor.
Details of
Examination
The examination
will consist of two written papers, a practical
examination and an oral examination. Theory
paper “I” will deal with the
basic principles of diabetes. Paper “II”
will deal with the clinically oriented problems.
Practical Examination
would assess the clinical skills of the
candidate to the satisfaction of the Board
of Examiners. Marks of each semester, attendance
of each candidate and performance of study/projects
would be included in the final examination.
Declaration of
the Results
Results of the
examination will be declared within a month
after the examination is completed in all
respects. The results will be posted at
Baqai Institute of Diabetology. It will
also be displayed at the official website
of Baqai institute of Diabetology &
Endocrinology:

Make Up Examination
There will be no
Supplementary Examination for those who
fail in the annual examination. Such candidate
would however, be eligible to appear in
the Make Up Exam only once, which would
be held within three months of annual
examination result announcement.

Rules
for Attendence |
| |
| 1. |
A student shall be assigned an enrolment number for the course of Diploma in Diabetology. |
| 2. |
An attendance of 75 percent is compulsory in each semester for a student to be eligible to appear in Final Examination. |
| 3. |
The attendance of students admitted in the faculty will be counted from the 1st day of the course and not from the date of admission. |
| 4. |
Shortage in attendance up to 05 percent only may be condoned by the Director of Institute for bonafide reasons. The Vice Chancellor may condone a further shortage of 10 percent in cases of special hardship, but no student whose attendance falls below 60 percent shall appear in the Examination of the Diploma Course. |
| 5. |
If a student is unable to attend classes continuously for 15 days or more without informing the Director of Institute his/her admission is liable to be cancelled. In case of illness or other similar situation, application along with a medical certificate from a registered medical practioner must be submitted as soon as possible after the incident to the Director office. |
| 6. |
A student who shows indifference to his/her studies by continued absence for 4 weeks from the date of his/her admission shall cease to be student of the University. Approval against the cancellation of admission may be made to the Director of Institute and the Vice Chancellor's decision in this behalf shall be final. |
| 7. |
If a student is unable to complete the attendance requirement in any course, he/she shall be required to complete the attendance afresh whenever the course is offered again. He/She will become eligible for appearing in the examination only after he/she has completed its attendance requirement. |

Application
Applications may be sent on
the prescribed from, to the Director, Institute
of Diabetology, Baqai Medical University along
with a crossed bank Draft/Pay Order drawn in favour
of Baqai Institute of Diabetology & Endocrinology.
Applications will be reviewed by a selection board
to ensure that the candidate has the ability and
necessary basic background to benefit from this
course. After the selection of the candidates
the list will be forwarded to the Baqai Medical
University for enrolment in the Diploma Course.
