Maternal nutritional status & dietary intake during pregnancy play an important role in the fetal programming of cardio metabolic diseases. Experimental and human studies have suggested that maternal nutrition during pregnancy can program the developing fetus and influence body size, performance and health, later in life. The aim of study is to explore the impact of maternal under-nutrition on metabolic status in newborns at birth.
The study was conducted by Baqai Institute of Diabetology & Endocrinology in collaboration with University of Oslo, Norway. From December 2009 to July 2012.
