Educational Facilities
1- IT Department
Importnat features of IT department
  • Established in 1999
  • Maintains more then 45000 patients computerized records
  • Developed different multimedia CDs
  • Developed online education programs
  • Provides support services to the organization in the area of data sharing management, and application support for the Hospital Managemnt System (HMS).
  • IT support: (Audio visual facilities, access to computers, access to facsimile, access to internet/E-mail.) multimedia, transparencies, OHP.
2- Training and Courses
  • Post-graduate "Diploma in Diabetology" awarded by Baqai Medical University. It is one year full-time course for physicians, conducted at BIDE. So far more than 280 doctors have qualified.
  • "Diploma in Diabetes Education" awarded by Baqai Medical University. It is one year full-time course for paramedics. The course was started in 2008.
  • "Training Course for Foot-Care Assistants" was started in November 2007. It is first of its kind in Pakistan and is consented by International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot.
  • M.Phil programme at Baqai Medical University.
  • UIO M.Phil / PhD Programme in Oslo.
  • NOMA M.Phil programme in Bangladesh.
  • Post graduate training in Medicine.
  • Fellowship training of FCPS part II.
  • "First International Course in Diabetes Management" was conducted at BIDE in collaboration with World Diabetes Foundation from 28th February to 21st March 2005. A team of 13 members from Afghanistan was trained.
  • Advanced courses on diabetes are organized regularly for family physicians.
3- Conferences and Seminars
  • "International Diabetes Conference" under the theme "Decade of diabetes care: in low resource and underserved communities" on Feb 26-28, 2006 at Karachi
  • Seminars, CMEs and workshops are arranged at regular intervals for the diploma- holder doctors.
  • CMEs are organized regularly for family physicians.
