Baqai Institute of Diabetology and Endocrinology was created as a single room diabetic clinic in 1996. Later on it was converted into a separate entity under the directorship of Prof. Abdul Basit and Patronage of Prof. F.U Baqai. It stands as one of the top most diabetic Foot care institute in Pakistan providing both outpatient and inpatient facilities recognized by International Diabetes Federation as IDF Center of Education for South Asian region.

Today BIDE is continuing its operations with the vision:

"To empower people with diabetes to make effective self- management decisions and uses the health care system as a resource when necessary."

The institute maintains computerized record of patient's data which is helpful for conducting research and also to educate patients which will facilitate them for a better management of Diabetes. There are many research papers which are presented at different local and international forums.
